ST MARY'S SCHOOL ASCOT

Mrs Danuta Staunton

We are a Catholic school. The Chapel is at the heart of our community, the place where we come together for prayer and worship, to share experiences, celebrate achievements, and provide guidance and support for each other. We encourage our girls in their spiritual relationship with God, and through this to embody those qualities valued by our founder, Mary Ward: freedom of spirit, sincerity and a cheerful disposition.

We are a girls school. Our pupils thrive in this environment, where they are able to pursue academic subjects and other activities according to their own talents and dispositions. They form life-long friendships, and learn to be confident and valued in themselves. They embody the prediction of our founder, Mary Ward, that ‘Women in time will come to do much’.

We are a full boarding school. Ours is a community that nurtures and sustains our pupils not just during the working day, but when that day has ended, and through the weekends as well. It is a community in which every girl can find the friendships and the support that she needs, while also having the space and the opportunity to develop and grow. We are proud to watch them mature into independent young women of conscience and spirit.

We are a small school. Our size allows us to provide the very best facilities, and a full range of subjects at A Level, taught by the very best subject specialists, but it also ensures that we remain a strong, compassionate and friendly community in which every girl is known and understood, her needs cared for, and her talents recognised, so that she can grow and flourish into the fulness of a rich and purposeful adulthood.

We are an academic school. The girls work hard and cheerfully, supported by superb teaching and an excellent pastoral system. They take pride in the improvements they make, they enjoy intellectual challenges, and they are willing to take risks along the way. All of this enables our girls to achieve outstanding results in public examinations, and to go on to a range of top universities both at home and abroad.
