Held in the Christmas term of each year, the school’s public speaking competition draws girls from Years 7, 8 and 9 to speak about any chosen subject - from the joys of chocolate to fishing and apartheid - in order to win the Cup for their house. Girls from Years 7 and 8 speak on their own, whilst Year 9 girls speak in teams of three. An outside adjudicator is invited to oversee the competition, and the whole school, particularly the younger years, are present in the audience to give support to their friends and enjoy the speeches.
