Frances Bedingfeld
Frances entered religious life and became a pupil of Mary Ward at the age of 14. She entered the Insititute in Rome at the age of 16. Frances spoke highly of Mary Ward and accompanied her on her last journey back to England in 1639. In 1669 she moved back to England for good and bought a house in Hammersmith. She became a headmistress and later a dedicated superior. In the 1680's it was suggested that she should start a school for Catholic girls in the North and in 1686 she bought a house just outside Micklegate Bar in York. The house is now the Bar Convent in York and is home to members of the CJ community. In 1704 she died in Bavaria and lies in an unmarked grave.
