Drama
The Drama Department is responsible for both academic and extra-curricular drama throughout the year. Drama is offered as an option at GCSE (AQA) and Drama and Theatre Studies (AQA) is available at A Level.
The department oversees around eleven school productions each year which give all girls an opportunity to perform if they wish. Plays produced range from the classics to modern drama and musicals. Productions take place in the recently completed Rose Theatre, a complex comprising of a 400-seat main theatre, and 100-seat studio theatre. Outdoor drama events in the summer take advantage of the school’s beautiful grounds.
Extra Drama is an extremely popular option among all year groups. Girls are taught individually or in pairs and around one hundred and thirty pupils are entered for Trinity Guildhall acting grades each year.
We also conduct several theatre trips a year. The younger year groups are taken to specific productions, while the Thorndike Society offers all those in year 10 and above the opportunity to see a wide variety of plays both in the West End and in local theatres.
