Links with Schools

St Mary’s has links with other schools in many contexts:

  • we enjoy strong links with our many feeder schools eg we have Prep School Heads days to which we invite Heads of our feeder schools to have a taste of life at St Mary's and question the Head and Deputy about all aspects of the school.

  • we enjoy our academic and social links with other independent schools close by and far away, particularly Catholic boys’ schools eg We join Winchester and other schools for the Erasmus essay writing competition. We attend Eton Scientific and Medical societies’ lectures. Joint discussions and Mass with Eton confirmands.  Socials with Eton, Winchester, Radley, Papplewick and Worth.

  • we enjoy links with the local community and maintained schools eg Joint Oxbridge day with pupils and staff from Charters, the local comprehensive school. St Francis’ Catholic Primary School pupils use our swimming pool and watch our drama productions. They have also used our drama equipment for their own productions. Many local schools attended our Theology Conference last November and will be attending this November too. Our Duke of Edinburgh students help out at St Francis’ Pre-School and Charters Youth Club Joint English Shakespeare workshops with St Bernard’s Grammar School in Slough.  Here is a taste of some of the things we do with the community: It is by no means a full list!

  • Riding for disabled
  • Working in charity shops
  • Our swimming pool is used by a local swimming club at weekends
  • Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity Concert
  • Produce and donate art work to two local hospitals
  • The Christmas Shoe Box Appeal
