Our lives can, on occasion, be very full and busy. It is all too easy to become stressed, forgetting that it is also important to sometimes stop. We invite you to take some time out, and look through what this Spiritual page has to offer.
Here you will also find regular updates on the Congregation of Jesus, the Mary Ward Association, and forthcoming Spiritual Events.

Online Help to Prayer
|
We wanted to introduce AOGs to two different websites that offer a different angle to daily prayer:
'Sacred Space' began in Lent a few years ago, as an experiement. In the first 24 hours 2,000 people from all over the world had logged on; running it is now an important Jesuit mission envolving a permanent team of Jesuits.
'Pray as you Go' is a much newer site and is produced, daily, by the English Jesuits.
Both sites set a person praying as they sit at their computer; they are not 'about' prayer, but give an opportunity and inspiration for prayer itself here and now that can be used for about 10 mins each day. The success of both sites has amazed people and they are now used daily by millions in every continent. Why not give it a try?

The Congregation of Jesus
|
Many of you will remember Sr Gemma Simmonds from your time at St Mary's. She wrote an article on the I.B.V.M.'s name change to the Congregation of Jesus, which was printed in The Tablet, and we thought many of you would be interested to read it.
The Congregation of Jesus has its own website, where you can learn much more about the order. Please click here to visit their website.

Whitby Guided Retreats - Summer 2008
Organised and directed by Sr Pia Buxton
On the cliff top at Whitby, looking out to sea from the Yorkshire coast. A garden. A small chapel. Home cooking and no washing up.
Sunday 22 - Monday 30 June
Tuesday 1 - Thursday 10 July
Thursday 17 - Saturday 26 July
Retreatants are asked to arrive between 4.00 and 6.00pm and to leave by 10.30am on departure day.
These are silent retreats. Each person is offered individual direction daily. The thinking and experience supporting this type of retreat is the belief that God is at work in each person and that people often need help to recognise God in their lives. Each evening there is an optional time of guided reflection.
To apply for a place, please contact Sr Pia Buxton CJ, 39 St Georges Avenue, London N7 0HB, Tel: 020 7700 3256. A donation of £35 per night is the norm, but this is negotiable.
Sr Pia also gives retreats at Clare Priory in Suffolk (Mondays to Sundays).
These very quiet retreats, with the opportunity for daily guidance, take place in the beautiful setting of Clare priory, an Augustinian Priory founded in the 15th C and revived in the 20th C. The priory is on the edge of the little town of Clare, on the river Stour, in a bautiful part of rural Suffolk. There is daily mass, offered by the current Augustinian community.

August 18th to 24th
Enquiries/booking: Clare Priory, Tel: 01787 277 326, Clare Priory, Clare, Suffolk CO10 8NX
